Robin the wonder puppy

Robin the wonder puppy landed with us late Dec. 21st. He was as cute as a puppy could be. But it was late so water, food, out and then straight to bed. As soon as we could we got some cute photos of Robin.

Hi, I'm Robin. Could I be your doggy?

I'm learning to fetch. I give the toy up really nicely.

But being a puppy I gotta play!!!

Foster mom said we couldn't bark at the dog from across the street so we came away from the fence very nicely.

Hi Foster mom! I'm a GOOOD dog!!!

Ooh, gotta roll!

What do you think I will do next?

ROLLLLLL!

Yeah!

Ok, now that that is over. What should I do?

Ideas?

I'm waiting.

Yeah, I'm cute! I need someone with some good ideas. Foster mom is so BORING! I need someone who wants to play, go hiking and do fun things. Being part Heeler, I'm good at coming and following along.

Robin is a great puppy. He has puppy inquisitiveness and wants to explore everything. He likes to pick things up in his mouth but is willing to relinquish them right away. Keeping things picked up and shoes put away, along with plenty of doggy toys available is important with any puppy.

We have him on a puppy schedule for house training. He had one accident the first day. Which is fairly standard when a dog goes to a new home since everything is new and they don't have a schedule yet. He is good about doing his business outside but were still treating him like a puppy to prevent accidents.

Robin is going to be a great wing-man (think Robin in the Batman and Robin relationship) for some lucky owner. He came in with another dog and they are great together. He is not chew or food possessive. He easily relinquishes a chew and doesn't mind you around his food. He has a soft mouth and doesn't grab hands. He needs to be reminded not to put his paws up on counters or people but he will pick that up really quick with consistent gently reminders. We use a "eh, eh" sound.

Robin is looking for an adoptive home with a yard. As a puppy he needs to have room to run and expend energy. He will run, play and do his business. However he then wants to come in right away to be with people. He is Ok with a 4 ft fence. He has barked a few times at other dogs beyond the fence but if you go over and shush him he listens very well and discontinues. He does not bark at nothing when left out by himself (only at other dogs he doesn't know). He does not bark at the door to come in but sits patiently waiting to come in.

Robin should go to a home that keeps him indoors and with his people the majority of the time. He has done well in the crate with only a little whining at first. We quickly found that if we leave the TV or radio on for him he quiets down and rests. He has a toy in with him that he can chew on. He sleeps well through the night but does need to go out right before bedtime and then again first thing in the morning. Robin came in without his name so would love to get a new name from his new owners that will cause his heart to sing every time he hears it.

Robin would like to find an adoptive home that is committed to keeping him for his lifetime and taking him for basic training so that he becomes a great lifetime companion.

Robin is estimated to be about 10 mths old. He is not yet done growing.
